Mendon BBQ & Lawn Party

Bear River Land Conservancy and Stokes Nature Center are proud to partner with Slide Ridge to throw this party! Please join us as we celebrate the many wonderful volunteers which make land stewardship and nature education possible. We’ll also be talking about how small local business, land conservation, and nature education all go hand-in-hand as we raise funds for Stokes Nature Center and Bear River Land Conservancy!

From 5:30 - 6:30 pm BRLC will host tours of their Mendon Meadow property, a short walk south of Slide Ridge. Mendon Meadow is home to the precious Ute Lady's Tresses Spiranthes diluvialis plant. BRLC works with citizen scientists to count every bloom, every year as part of an ongoing study of this rare plant and its particular habitat needs. BRLC volunteers have also been working steadfastly over the last few years to increase pollinator habitat at the property. Stokes Nature Center staff will be on hand to offer kids’ tours, while BRLC will offer tours for adults.

From 6:30 - 8:30 pm, Slide Ridge will provide backyard bbq fare and wine tastings (wine tastings will be $5). We’re working on live music, so stay tuned! Stokes staff will have activities on hand for the kids as well.
