Bear Lake Preserve

The Bear Lake Reserve is a perfect example of a land protection partnership. In 2012, a private landowner decided his lake shore property would be better as natural habitat than new vacation homes. He wanted those protections to endure, so he approached the Bear River Land Conservancy and, together, we created a conservation easement that protects natural habitat and open space.

This property is not open to public access, but the habitat and open space values it protects enrich the public, and those values will be protected forever.

For more details on how the Bear River Land Conservancy can help landowners preserve their lands forever, or if you are interested in preserving your own lands, please visit the Our Tools page or contact us.

The Bear River Land Conservancy was established by local visionaries to ensure that valuable private lands with public benefits will continue to provide those benefits. Our focus includes:

  • Working farms and ranches; we love our locally grown foods!

  • Lands near rivers and streams; because we all need clean water.

  • Private lands and trails that allow public access for recreation, including hunting, fishing, and hiking.

  • Natural habitat areas for migratory birds, native plants, and healthy fish.
